About Plexiglas®

The chemical term is Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), also known as acrylic or acrylic glass as well as by the trade names Plexiglas, Acrylite, Lucite, and Perspex among several others, is a transparent thermoplastic often used in sheet form as a lightweight or shatter-resistant alternative to glass.

For creating our bags and objects we use Acrylic sheets (Plexiglas®) with glued parts and as a material is incredibly resilient, however dropping your acrylic bag or other accessories made by Plexiglas® will probably cause breaking, cracking or scratches.

Therefore, we ask you to Treat Them Kindly like fine furniture.

However, in some cases the damaged part can be repaired, re-polished or replaced - if possible -, at a low cost.

Please email info@uraniagazelli.com with photos of any of your purchases, which you consider have been damaged and we will immediately examine your request and notify you via e-mail on the actions taken.

Care Instructions

Your Urania Gazelli Plexiglas Bags & accessories have been handmade using the finest materials. Its item is handcrafted and hand polished, that's what make them unique! We suggest you follow the below instructions to ensure that your latest purchase remains in perfect condition.

Cleaning

Plexiglas® has the characteristic to be charged electrostatically therefore it draws dust. Dusty surfaces or with fingerprints may be cleaned with water and some dishwashing liquid using a soft, non-linting cloth or a Vileda ®  Microclean cloth

Another cleanser is a cream which is used for treating wood furniture eg. Pronto, Overlay etc. This can be applied in Plexiglas® bags, objects, furniture etc. Never try to clean Plexiglas® bags, objects or furniture with alcohol or solvent. The use of alcohol, acetone or benzenes causes a spider’s nest and small cracks appear on surface.

Never wipe the objects dry and use only non-scouring agents for more intensive cleaning, e.g. ANTISTATIC PLASTIC CLEANER.

Avoid placing your bags or your acrylic items near sharp objects to prevent scratches.

Storage

Keep your Plexiglas bags & accessories in a dry, dark place. Ideally keep them in their dust bags and boxes for safety when not in use.
